Taos Toolbox will take place at the Angel Fire Resort near Taos. Students will each have their own private room in comfortable suites, which include full kitchen, television, and free wireless internet. Laundry facilities are free.
Our lodge sits in the Carson National Forest, high in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico. New Mexico’s spectacular scenery and relaxed lifestyle have attracted figures such as Kit Carson, DH Lawrence, Georgia O’Keeffe, Thornton Wilder, Bert Philips, Ernest Blumenschein, Mabel Dodge Lujan, Ansel Adams, Willa Cather, Aldous Huxley, Carl Jung, Fredric Brown and Thomas Wolfe. Taos is filled with unique Southwestern architecture, art galleries, and shops specializing in books, jewelry, arts, and crafts.
Next to the village of Taos is Taos Pueblo, continually inhabited for over 900 years, in most seasons is open to the public. Rio Grande Gorge provides spectacular scenery and white water rafting. Horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and exquisite mountain scenery are all available. Our lodge features a private lake, fishing, and zipline tours. Expeditions to most of the local sights can be arranged.
For meals, our lodge has three restaurants on the premises, and there are many other restaurants in the area. In addition, if people prefer to prepare their own meals, there is a supermarket just across the highway from the resort, and each suite will have a full kitchen.
Angel Fire is a deluxe establishment, and includes swimming pools, hot tubs, a private lake, hiking trails, a zipline tour, an 18-hole golf course, and other amenities. If you’re temporarily burned out with writing, you’ll have no trouble finding distraction.
NOTE: We will be at an altitude of nearly 10,000 feet, which (according to our doc) means “60% oxygen saturation in a healthy adult male.” While most people have no real problem at this altitude, people with respiratory conditions may wish to consult their physicians.
