A last-minute decision on the part of our original venue has forced Taos Toolbox to move to the Snakedance Condominium, also in Taos Ski Valley. Students will each have their own private room in these deluxe suites, which include full kitchen, bar, living room area, and wireless internet. Laundry facilities are free. Each suite has television and phone, and the lodge features a sauna, hot tub, and massage facilities.
Some rooms feature balconies with spectacular views.
Unfortunately Snakedance is more expensive than our original lodging, which has resulted in a slight increase in fees. We apologize for this, but feel we have no alternative.
The Ski Valley is just a few miles from Taos, which lies high in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico. Its spectacular scenery and relaxed lifestyle have attracted figures such as Kit Carson, DH Lawrence, Georgia O'Keeffe, Thornton Wilder, Bert Philips, Ernest Blumenschein, Mabel Dodge Lujan, Ansel Adams, Willa Cather, Aldous Huxley, Carl Jung, Fredric Brown and Thomas Wolfe. Taos is filled with unique Southwestern architecture, art galleries, and shops specializing in books, jewelry, arts, and crafts.
Next to the village of Taos is Taos Pueblo, continually inhabited for over 900 years, which in most seasons is open to the public. Rio Grande Gorge provides spectacular scenery and white water rafting. Horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and exquisite mountain scenery are all available. Expeditions to most of the local sights can be arranged.
Students will be provided materials to construct their own breakfasts and lunches. At least nine dinners will also be provided. We will do our best to conform to students’ individual dietary needs, but must confess that some dietary requirements are beyond our capacity.
NOTE: We will be at an altitude of nearly 10,000 feet, which (according to our doc) means "60% oxygen saturation in a healthy adult male." While most people have no real problem at this altitude, people with respiratory conditions may wish to consult their physicians.
